VOLUNTEER

Meet a heart. Raise a heart. Save a heart.

Our volunteer opportunities provide a behind-the-scenes look into the life-saving journey of the Save a Child's Heart patients.

Volunteers are responsible for organizing games and activities for the children, as well as acting as a friend and a familiar face. Volunteers are crucial for providing care and emotional support to the kids and their families during their stay in Israel, pre- and post-procedure.

In addition, volunteers are exposed to many different cultures, languages, and customs, making this a uniquely special experience.

All volunteers also take part in our #EndlessLev fundraising initiative, where they have the chance to share their experience and become ambassadors for Save a Child’s Heart.

The minimum age for all volunteers is 18 years old. All volunteers are responsible to find their own accommodations. We recommend staying in Tel Aviv or the center of Israel. Commuting by public transport is quite easy.

Application Process

Our volunteer program is a once in a lifetime and life changing experience. We are always looking for new volunteers to help out within the Children's Home and Hospital. We have many applicants so make sure to apply in advance and secure your spot!

Immersive Volunteer Program

Immersive volunteers have the unique privilege of following kids through their SACH journey. You will have the chance to form fast relationships with kids throughout the duration of their stay that last a lifetime.

As an Immersive volunteer, you will be able to come to the SACH Children's Home for weekly shifts where you plan and play activities and games with the children, distracting them from the hardships they are going through.

This program is 3-5 times a week, morning or afternoon shifts (9AM-12PM or 4PM-6PM). The minimum commitment is 3 weeks, though you can stay as long as you’d like beyond that. This program takes place entirely at the Children’s Home. This is suitable if you have a limited amount of time but are looking to spend most of your days helping us out. This program is fully immersed in the day-to-day lives of the children at Save a Child’s Heart Children's Home.

Superstar Volunteer program

Superstar volunteers will see the children at different stages - from their arrival, to their treatment, to their departure. The bonds you will form with the kids will be ones that neither of you are likely to ever forget.

As a Superstar Volunteer, you will be doing a mix of volunteering at the Children’s Home as well as the hospital. At the Children’s home you will plan and play activities and games with the children, distracting them from the hardships they are going through. At the hospital, you will be accompanying the kids for their medical check ups and making sure to keep smiles on their faces and make the experience as positive as can be.

This program is 2-5 times a week. The minimum commitment is 2 months. Days at the Children’s Home are according to the same shift hours. Days at the hospital are 9:30AM-2:30PM. This is suitable for volunteers who have a longer term period and would like to experience volunteering in the hospital in addition.

Buddy Volunteer program

As a “buddy” you will be paired with a specific child during your time volunteering with us. Most likely this will be a child who was not accompanied to Israel by a family member, making you their familiar face, friend and companion for this difficult period. You will be with them either at the Children’s Home or at the hospital, tagging along with them wherever they need to be, pre- and post-procedure.

This program is 2-5 times a week. The minimum commitment is 2 months. Days could be around 9:30AM-2:30PM. This is suitable for volunteers who have a longer term period but would still like some free time on their hands. This program is for volunteers interested in building a one-on-one relationship with one patient and becoming their ”buddy” for their entire journey, accompanying them physically and emotionally.
