The Ethiopia Children’s Cardiac Clinic in partnership with Save a Child’s Heart of Israel based in the US is hosting an event in Washington DC at the Embassy of Ethiopia on October 2019 ( which was initially planned for July 25th, 2019) to bring awareness about the tens of thousands of children in Ethiopia, who are suffering from congenital or rheumatic heart disease, and are in urgent need of open-heart surgery. The objectives of the fundraiser and awareness event is to provide 100 surgeries for children who are currently unable to afford the required cardiac surgery, promote the doctors on the front line saving children, and to share the Government of Ethiopia commitment to tackle the lack of quality standard healthcare services.
In one year, the Ethiopian Ministry of Health aims to provide supplies and medications however; the government procurement of these supplies will take approximately a year. The Ethiopia Emergency Children’s Cardiac Surgical Supply (EECCSS) Fund is a special fund designated to purchase consumable supplies and medications. The Ethiopian Ministry of Health has committed to building several cardiac centers and are currently under construction and development around the country with medical teams that are in training and preparing to operate in these centers.
