SACH treats children suffering from congenital and rheumatic heart disease who have little access to care in their own countries. Together we can give them a chance at a healthy life.
Training Medical Professionals
The ultimate goal of SACH is to create centers of medical competence in developing countries so that children can be treated independently in their own communities. Our training programs help drive this goal.
International Medical Missions
To date, Save A Child's Heart has conducted 128 surgical, catheterization, and screening missions around the world. Through our missions and partnerships abroad, our African based trainees are working alongside local hospitals and traveling on missions to meet the need.
Children’s Hospital
The Sylvan Adams Children's Hospital at Wolfson Medical Center has transformed pediatric cardiac care in Israel.
Since opening in 2021, the Sylvan Adams Children’s Hospital has treated approximately 22,000 Israeli children. In 2024 alone, around 5,000 Israeli children received care at the hospital, in addition to hundreds of children from around the world.
Our facilities have also been used to support the urgent trauma needs for both adults and children impacted from the ongoing war.
For 30 years, a global network of Doctors, Family Members, Volunteers and supporters of Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) have helped us bring lifesaving cardiac care to children in need around the world.
Through every challenge, whether war, a global pandemic, or the countless obstacles in between, we have remained unwavering in our mission, continuing to build hope for the next generation.

First Child is Treated
Our founder, Dr. Ami Cohen, brought the very first child brought to Israel from Ethiopia to be operated on. The following year, Save a Child’s Heart was born.
First Surgical Mission
Save a Child’s Heart first surgical mission to China. To date, SACH has embarked on over 125 missions abroad.
A Tragic Accident
Dr. Ami Cohen’s sudden and tragic death in Kilimanjaro. The team at Wolfson Medical Center came together and committed itself to continue its mission in honor of Ami.
Children’s Home Opens
Save a Child's Heart opens the Legacy Heritage Children's Home in Holon, expanding our capacity to house more mothers and children with 60 beds.
UN Population Award
Save a Child's Heart becomes the first Israeli organization in history to receive the UN Population Award.
Children’s Hospital Opens
Opened Sylvan Adams Children’s Hospital and the Ida Cabakoff International Cardiac Care Center for Save a Child's Heart in Israel.
Support for Emergency Needs in Israel
Save a Child’s Heart launched an Emergency fundraising campaign after the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023. Those funds helped purchase equipment which is also currently being used to address the emergency needs from the Iranian missile attacks and the ongoing war.
The South-to-South model, implemented and funded by Save a Child’s Heart, has created a connected network of skilled cardiac specialists who now: operate independently in their home countries, mentor the next generation of doctors and nurses, and adapt advanced skills learned in Israel to local realities.
Construction is underway for the SACH funded Pediatric ER which will deliver the most advanced pediatric emergency care in central Israel. The new Pediatric ER will serve both the rapidly growing pediatric population of central Israel as well as the children brought into the region from Save a Child’s Heart.

Saving lives for 30 years. Since the first children treated from Ethiopia in 1995 to the most recent children treated from South Sudan, we haven't stopped. In fact, we continue to push the limits in how many we treat every year, giving as many children a second chance to a healthy life.
